AmeriMerchant is an good credit card processing company with one of the lowest discount rates and some of the lowest monthly fees of the all the products we reviewed. Factors that contributed to this service's low ranking include the changing transaction rate and the startup fee of $99.00.

Average Approval Rating:  

AmeriMerchant has a 99% approval rating and they do not charge an application fee. The company promises to contact you within one business day about your application status.

Cost Per Month*:  

AmeriMerchant has typical monthly costs if you don't go over 250 transactions monthly. The costs include a $25.00 monthly payment gateway fee, a $10.00 statement fee and a $25.00 monthly minimum. The discount rate is 2.30%, higher than others in our top ten. We felt that the fluctuating transaction rate was high too—the first 250 transactions cost you $0.25 per transaction but after that, the price jumps to $0.31 per transaction—a fee structure that hurts bigger businesses. The charge back fee, $25.00, and the address verification fee, $0.05, are both typical.

Startup Cost:  

The $99.00 startup cost is about average compared to the all the other services we reviewed.

Account Setup Time:  

AmeriMerchant takes five days to set up your account, so it's a bit of a wait before you can accept credit cards over the Internet.

Summary:  

AmeriMerchant is a good credit card processing company, but they take a comparatively long time to set up your account and the fluctuating transaction rate makes us dizzy.
